The best Chickpea Hummus – Hummus Recipe is smooth and swirled, and it’s delicious with a wedge of pita bread. It’s nutty and tangy, thanks to the tahini, with notes of lemon and garlic. This is my favorite recipe of all time for hummus.

This chickpea hummus recipe is an alternative to traditional hummus that is quick, healthy, easy to make, and delicious. Mix garlic, chickpeas, tahini, salt, and lemon juice in a food processor with metal blades.

Mix cooking liquid in the Vitamix food processor or a blender until the right consistency is reached. This tastes delicious with Falafel and tahini sauce.

I believe that Chickpea Hummus is some of the best food there is. It sounds like something uninspiring, but the blending of chickpeas, olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic makes an extraordinary snack.

The secret of the best chickpea hummus is that they should be cooked till they are soft and they are mushy. It’s made with real and healthy ingredients and is vegan!

Hummus is a delicious spread or dip made from chickpeas, tahini, lemon, and spices, mostly enjoyed in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. It has also traveled to India from the Middle East.

There are many variations of the dip, so each has its own charm. You can make many different versions of these delicious dips made from chickpeas and tahini with lemon and spices.

For this basic homemade hummus recipe, the seven basic ingredients, along with a good quantity of tahini, are key to smoothing out the hummus.

Cooking your own chickpeas involves soaking them first, then cooking them as normal until they are mushy, soft, and creamy.

I have developed many recipes in the past that taste good every time, and then I fell in love with this versatile dip.

I made this recipe by putting all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blending until smooth.

You may want to use a mixer’s baton to activate the mixer to get things going but if not, you can always add more water to achieve the desired consistency.

When I was in Canada, Here in Canada, you can buy these versions in grocery stores, but I believe you should make them yourself because there are so many ways to enjoy this delicious dip. No mezze is complete without hummus. Mezze or meze is an assortment of small dishes typically eaten for snacking or light meals. The contents vary by region, but the basic idea of grazing stays the same.

What is Hummus?

Chickpea Hummus is a delicious chickpea dip that is easy to prepare. It’s low in calories and low in carbs.

Make the dip with good olive oil (I use good olive oil for this dip, but you can use any oil like coconut oil, oil of your choice, or even a little salt).

When you really want to learn how to make hummus from scratch, dry chickpeas are the best option. If you have canned chickpeas, simmer for a short 20 minutes until thoroughly cooked and tender.

Using a food processor, blend the hummus mixture for 4-5 minutes until it is well-assembled and smooth. If you would like it even smoother, you could add some hot water and check it.

If you want creamy hummus, peel the chickpeas and discard their shells. I sometimes don’t peel them and it doesn’t affect the taste.

Ingredients

It is easy to make, requires few ingredients, and is very tasty.

Chickpea – The main ingredient in this dish is chickpeas, and it has a healthy Earthy, and subtle taste. To make this recipe, I soak my chickpeas and boil them, although you can also use canned chickpeas.

Just clean them thoroughly before using them.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Make this dip with the best quality olive oil; it gives a very peculiar taste to this dish.

Tahini – Tahini is made of olive oil mixed with salt and a few tablespoons of olive or coconut oil. It has a very peculiar flavor.

Besides this, you will also need roasted cumin powder, paprika, lemon juice, garlic, and salt.

How to make Chickpea Hummus step by step with photo :

 1. Mix the tahini sauce with lemon juice to make it creamy. Blend it until it forms a paste, then scrape off the sides and bottom, then blend for another 30 seconds, or until it is creamy and smooth.

2. Add the minced garlic, salt, olive oil, and blend for 30 seconds, scraping the sides and bottom as you go, and process for another 30 seconds, making sure everything is well-blended.

3. Wash and rinse chickpeas. If you want to peel off the skin from chickpea you can do that to get more creamy hummus. But it’s optional. Add half of them to a food processor or blender and process for 1 minute. Scrape sides and bottom of the bowl, then add remaining chickpeas and process until very thick and smooth.

4. If your hummus is too thick or has chickpea bits in it, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of water to thin it out.

5. Taste the hummus and adjust salt as necessary and transfer into a serving bowl.

6. Serve hummus with olive oil and paprika.

Important Suggestion To Keep In Mind

  • If you over boil your chickpeas, the hummus will be creamy and smooth.
  • Adding baking soda to boiled chickpeas makes them soft and tender.
  • Make the chickpeas into a smooth dip by grinding using ice-cold water. It will prevent the chickpeas from darkening from the heat of the blender.
  • Make this recipe with good olive oil.
  • The chickpeas also soften and burst better with baking soda.

Storage Suggestion

It is also fine to freeze. Transfer it to a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 4 months.

Defrost it overnight and serve. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to a week in an airtight container, so be sure to close the container tightly after each use.

Can this hummus be made without tahini sauce?

If you don’t want to add tahini to the hummus, you can simply omit it altogether. The taste will be slightly altered but still delicious.

What other variation you can make in hummus?

Black Bean Hummus – This vegan, gluten-free dip uses Black beans instead of chickpeas. It is a party favorite and can be served with tortilla chips, veggies sticks, or pita bread.

Pumpkin Hummus – This recipe for savory pumpkin hummus is both healthy and delicious.

Beet Hummus – Beet Hummus is a delicious dip that is extremely easy to make.

Roasted Red Pepper Hummus – Roasted red peppers give a very nice flavor to this classic hummus. Charred roasted red peppers give roasted flavor to this classic.

Serving Suggestions

Hummus goes great with pita chips and nachos. You can mix it with crackers, veggie sticks, or spread it on bread slices to make sandwiches or even apply it as your salad dressing. It tastes great in all its guises. 

If you are planning on using it as salad dressing, thin it out a bit. Spread it over chicken or fish that has just been grilled. Add falafel and fresh greens to make wraps.

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp – Tahini sauce
  • 1 Big – Lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cup – Chickpeas
  • 1 – Garlic clove, minced
  • 3 tbsp – Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp – Cumin powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp – Water
  • Paprika for serving
  • More olive oil decoration

Instructions

1. Mix the tahini sauce with lemon juice to make it creamy. Blend it until it forms a paste, then scrape off the sides and bottom, then blend for another 30 seconds, or until it is creamy and smooth.
