EGG IN HOLE VS EGG TOAST: THE DIFFERENCE

Egg toast and egg in a hole, also referred to as egg in a basket air fryer and toad in a hole egg, are two well-liked breakfast dishes that showcase eggs and bread as their primary components. Despite sharing these core ingredients, there are some notable distinctions between the two dishes.

While egg toast involves placing an egg cooked in various methods on top of a slice of bread, egg in a hole involves cutting a hole in the bread and cooking the egg inside the bread. In contrast, Egg in a hole requires slicing a hole in a piece of bread and frying an egg within the cutout. If you opt for this dish, it’s essential to place the parchment paper underneath the bread to prevent the egg from dripping through the air fryer basket.

Important Suggestions To Keep In Mind

  • Preheat the air fryer for 3 minutes at 325° F. Preheating isn’t required or optional.
  • In the air fryer basket, place a round of parchment paper. Although parchment paper rounds aren’t necessary, they will prevent the egg from potentially dripping through the holes. I have not used them as I have made a hole by pressing them in the middle of the bread.

Frequently Asked Question

Which type of bread is suitable for making egg toast in an air fryer?

Toasting bread can be a challenging task – one moment it seems barely toasted, and the next it’s a flaming disaster.

For making Air Fryer Egg Toast, it is recommended to use robust whole-grain bread. As denser slices are available in comparison to white bread, it can absorb more heat, resulting in a browned instead of burnt toast.

Choose bread with a firm crust, like sourdough or ciabatta, for a crispy texture. Brioche or challah is a good option if you prefer a softer texture.

Although other types of bread can also be used in an air fryer, different bread types have distinct cooking times, so it’s necessary to keep an eye on them to avoid burning. Utilizing the appropriate bread type and temperature will result in a perfectly cooked air fryer toast.
