Why Choose Air Fryer Apple Pie with Puff Pastry?

  • Time-saving: With the help of an air fryer, you can have a delicious apple pie ready in a fraction of the time it takes to bake in a traditional oven. Say goodbye to long waiting times and hello to quick and satisfying desserts!
  • Flaky and Golden Crust: Puff pastry is the secret ingredient that takes this apple pie to a whole new level. Its delicate layers bake up beautifully in the air fryer, resulting in a golden, flaky crust that perfectly complements the sweet and spiced apple filling.
  • Perfectly Cooked Apples: The air fryer’s rapid circulation of hot air ensures that the apple slices become tender and juicy without getting mushy. Each bite is a delightful balance of sweet, cinnamon-infused apples and crispy pastry

How To Make Puff Pastry At Home

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes
    • 1 cup ice-cold water

    Instructions:

    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix them together to evenly distribute the salt.
    2. Add the chilled and cubed butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make sure the butter is well distributed throughout the flour.
    3. Gradually add the ice-cold water to the mixture, a little at a time. Use a fork or your hands to combine the ingredients. Be careful not to overmix; the dough should be just moist enough to come together.
    4. Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Gently knead the dough a few times to form a smooth ball. Avoid overworking the dough as this can result in a tough final product.
    5. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the butter to firm up and the dough to rest.
    6. After the resting period, remove the dough from the refrigerator and place it on a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a rectangular shape, about ¼ inch thick.
    7. Fold the bottom third of the dough upwards, then fold the top third downwards, as if you were folding a letter. This is known as a “single fold.” Rotate the dough 90 degrees and roll it out again into a rectangle.
    8. Repeat the folding process two more times, creating a total of three single folds. This will help create the characteristic layers and flakiness of puff pastry.
    9. Wrap the folded dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or overnight. This allows the dough to relax and the gluten to rest.

Your homemade puff pastry dough is now ready to be used in various recipes, such as turnovers, tarts, or the Air Fryer Apple Pie with Puff Pastry recipe mentioned earlier. Enjoy experimenting with this versatile and buttery pastry

  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

How To Make Easy Air Fryer Apple Pie With Puff Pastry:

  1. Retrieve the frozen puff pastries from the freezer and set them aside. Allow them to thaw for approximately 15 minutes until the pastry reaches a slightly softened state. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat a frying pan over medium heat and add the butter. Allow the butter to melt until it is just beginning to boil. Now add the diced apples, then add granulated sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, lemon juice, and all-purpose flour. Toss until the apples are well coated with the sugar and spices.
  3. Saute for 4 minutes and then take out in a bowl. Keep aside.
  4. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  5. Spoon the apple filling onto one pastry sheet, spreading it out evenly.
  6. Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top of the apple filling as a whole sheet.
  7. Now with the help of a knife give 3 cut marks on the upper surface of the pastry.
  8. Brush the top of the pastry with the beaten egg wash to create a golden-brown crust.
  9. Apply a light coating of cooking spray to the air fryer basket. Brush the tops of the two pies with oil and carefully transfer the pies to the air fryer basket using a spatula.
  10. Place 2 puff pastry in the air fryer basket and cook for about 15 – 20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  11. Gently take out the pies from the basket and proceed to repeat the process with the remaining two pies.
  12. Once cooked, remove the apple pie from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes. You can dust the pie with powdered sugar for an extra touch.
  13. Serve the air fryer apple pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.
