Description
These straightforward, air fryer cheesy cauliflower steak cooked in the air fryer effortlessly, elevate ordinary cauliflower into a delightful main course that will be a hit with everyone! This delectable low-carb dish not only has a striking resemblance to chicken parmesan but also delivers a fantastic flavor that transforms cauliflower into a star on the dinner table.
Ingredients
- 2 cauliflower heads, 1 inch thick
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. ginger powder
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. paprika powder
- salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp. fresh parsley garnish, optional
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 4 tbsp parmesan cheese, grated optional
Instructions
- Prepare the cauliflower: Start by removing the leaves from the cauliflower head and trimming the stem. Carefully slice the cauliflower into 1-inch-thick steaks, ensuring they hold together.
- Seasoning Blend: In a small bowl, add olive oil, then combine a little grated Parmesan cheese (optional), onion powder, ginger powder, minced garlic or garlic powder, paprika powder (if using), dried parsley, salt, and pepper. This flavorful blend will be the secret to the cheesy goodness of your cauliflower steaks.
- Mix nicely.
- Coat the Cauliflower: Lay the cauliflower steaks on a flat surface of the air fryer basket or air fryer oven tray and generously sprinkle the seasoning blend on both sides.
- Press the mixture onto the steaks to ensure it adheres well.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Meanwhile, lightly spray the cauliflower steaks with olive oil to help them achieve that perfect crispiness.
- Air Frying: Place the seasoned cauliflower steaks in the preheated air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overcrowded. Cook for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, or until the steaks are golden brown and tender.
- Take them out and add mozzarella or parmesan cheese on top of the fried cauliflower steaks.
- Now air fry again for 5 minutes at 390°F for 5 to 7 minutes till the cheese turns a little golden.
- Serve and Enjoy: Once cooked, remove the cauliflower steaks from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh herbs or additional Parmesan if desired. Serve these cheesy delights as a satisfying main dish or a delightful side.
Notes
- Opt for a fresh and firm cauliflower head with tightly packed florets. This ensures that your cauliflower steaks hold together well during slicing and cooking.
- When slicing the cauliflower into steaks, try to make them as uniform in thickness as possible. This ensures even cooking, and all the steaks will be ready at the same time.
- Preheating your air fryer is crucial for achieving that crispy exterior. It helps the cauliflower steaks cook evenly and ensures they get that golden brown color.
- Lightly coat the cauliflower steaks with olive oil spray before placing them in the air fryer. This helps in achieving a crispy texture without excessive oil, making your dish healthier.
