Ingredients
- 6 Slices of bread
- Herbs Chopped coriander or parsley leaves
- Butter room temperature
- Chopped Garlic
- Diced Mozzarella Cheese
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Bread: Of course, the essential component is bread! Use any bread you happen to have on hand. Since I usually eat whole wheat or sourdough bread, I personally like to use those. I also enjoy using baguettes or French bread. Even better for the perfect crunch is if you have any leftover stale or day-old bread! You can also use bread that is gluten-free!
Extra Virgin Olive Oil: My preferred type of olive oil to use is extra virgin. It contributes to the golden hue in addition to having a delicious flavor. Although you can use different oils, like melted butter or avocado oil, I always like to use olive oil.
Herbs: The secret to flavor is herbs! Of course, oregano or Italian seasoning is traditional; it goes well with a wide variety of foods. Dried parsley, rosemary, and thyme are also excellent choices.
Others: Try out a ton of different flavorings as well! Other favorite additions of mine include red pepper flakes for some spiciness, grated Parmesan cheese, onion powder, and smoky paprika.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which bread is ideal for use?
The finest bread for croutons is one that is quite solid and thick. Both French bread and sourdough work incredibly well. For optimal results, use slightly stale bread if possible, as opposed to fresh. It’s a fantastic technique to ensure that nothing goes to waste by using up bread that has passed its prime.
Must they be cooked in a single layer?
It turns out that you can cook a sizable quantity of these at once because you don’t have to cook them in a single layer. Once they are cooked to your preference, simply stir them every three minutes or so after that. Keep an eye on them because they will cook a little faster if you cook them in a single layer.
The stovetop method: what is it?
In a skillet, warm up a small amount of oil over medium-high heat. Add the heated croutons after that. After 5 to 7 minutes, or until crispy, stir every minute.
For what length of time do they keep?
After air-frying the croutons, allow them to cool, and then store them in an airtight container to preserve their freshness. Store them for up to two weeks at room temperature.
