It has long been on my mind to find out how to make hash brown crepes from raw potatoes. Eventually, I decided just to make basic hash brown crepes with fresh grated potatoes and seasonings. These crepes came out light, crispy and delicate, with a great flavor and texture. They are unusual, very tasty, easy to make, and the perfect crepe. This is the only way I’m going to have crepes, and my family too.

My favorite potato is not yellow, but I became a follower after trying these potato crepes. These potato hash brown crepes will surely get your taste buds rolling if you are like me or if you love potatoes.

Crepes: What Are They?

A crepe is a thin, delicate pancake made without leavener. They’re thin as lace and have irresistible buttery crisp edges when made correctly. It is common to see crepe stations at wedding receptions as well as at restaurants and catered events. While crepes are usually associated with breakfast or brunch, they are also welcome for dinner or dessert. From meats, sauces, and vegetables to whipped cream and berries, crepes aren’t picky about what you fill them with. 😉

Recipes for crepes vary but usually include flour, liquid (milk and/or water), and salt. In restaurants, they are typically cooked in a specialty pan, but in the home, any skillet will do.

What makes them so popular? Since they can be made into so many different things, they make eating fun. Whatever you want can be stuffed and topped on them, no matter how they’re rolled up or folded. It’s common to top them with Nutella, whipped cream, and berries, but you can also use savory fillings. You can fold them or roll them up and try various fillings and flavors. The possibilities are endless!

But here today we are making a savory crepes and we turned a hash brown into a crepe with a delicious filling.

Important Suggestions To Keep In Mind

  • The potatoes should be thoroughly rinsed under cold running water after they have been shredded. They can be washed by placing them in a colander and running water over them.
  • For optimal crispiness, make sure the shredded potato is completely dry. Fill a clean dishtowel halfway with shredded potatoes and squeeze.
  • In a large mixing bowl, pour cold water over the grated potatoes. To get the greatest results, immerse them in cold water for 20–30 minutes.
  • Soaking and washing potatoes help to remove extra starch, which is crucial. Potatoes that have too much starch will become sloppy and non-crispy. It’s critical to follow this step if you want crispy hash browns.

Storage Suggestion

Bring the hashbrowns to room temperature before serving. Divide them into meal-size quantities and freeze them in separate containers or bags to reheat later. Place butter paper between hashbrown crepes.

In the oven: Wrap the hashbrowns in aluminum foil and place them in a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit, covered. Baking should take no more than ten minutes.

On the stove: Heat the oil in a skillet and season the hashbrowns with salt and pepper. Fry for a few minutes, or until golden and crisp.

Microwave-safe plate: in the microwave, evenly distribute the hashbrowns. Heat for 60 seconds on one side, then flip and heat for another 60 seconds on the other.

Serving Suggestion

Serve this delicious hashbrown with any dip or ketchup of your choice.
