Description

Making Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Wings in Chili Garlic Butter Sauce is a breeze, especially when you pair them with a yummy sauce that is tangy, sweet, and spicy. I’ve compiled the most important advice to guarantee succulent meat and enticingly crispy skin.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 pieces of frozen chicken wings
  • 1/2 lime or lemon
  • Chopped cilantro leaves
  • 6: Garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 cubes Butter
  • Red chili flakes
  • 5 tbsp. Thai sweet chili sauce with lemongrass Sauce
  • Olive oil for air-frying

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 5 minutes. Lightly coat the air fryer basket or tray with cooking spray or a small amount of oil to prevent sticking. Place the frozen chicken wings in a single layer in the air fryer tray or basket. Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking and crispiness.
  2. Cook the chicken wings in the preheated air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for about 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through. Cooking time may vary depending on the size and thickness of the wings. While the wings are cooking, prepare the chili garlic butter sauce.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
  4. Add minced garlic and red chili flakes to the melted butter. Adjust the amount of chili flakes based on your spice preference.
  5. Cook the garlic and chili flakes for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the garlic is lightly golden. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.
  6. Optionally, you can add 4 to 5 tablespoons of Thai sweet chili sauce with lemongrass sauce or any sweet chili sauce to balance the heat and add sweetness to the sauce.
  7. Add chopped coriander leaves or parsley and mix well.
  8. Stir well to combine.
  9. Now add half the lemon or lime juice and mix well.
  10. Now turn off the flame. Once the chicken wings are cooked and crisp, take them out.
  11. Take them out carefully and transfer them to a large bowl. You can have them as they are but wait for the magic.
  12. Now add the crispy chicken wings to the chili garlic butter sauce.
  13. Gently toss the wings in the sauce until they are evenly coated.
  14. Transfer the coated wings to a serving plate or platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color and freshness.
  15. Serve the air fryer frozen chicken wings with chili garlic butter sauce immediately while they are hot and crispy. You can also serve them with your favorite dipping sauce or alongside celery sticks and ranch dressing for a classic combination.

Notes

  • Thawing: Thawing the frozen chicken wings before frying them in the air fryer is advised for optimal results. This permits the flavors to seep into the meat and helps guarantee even cooking.
  • Pat Dry: Use paper towels to pat the chicken wings dry once they have thawed. The wings in the air fryer may not get crispy if they are overly moist.
  • Seasoning: Use a liberal amount of salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to season the chicken wings. This enhances the flavor of the wings prior to their coating with sauce.
  • Preheating: Before cooking, always preheat your air fryer. This guarantees that the wings begin cooking right away and contributes to their crispy exterior.
  • Single Layer: Put the chicken wings in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Wings that are sloppy and unevenly cooked can result from crowding.
  • Turning: Midway through the cooking process, turn the chicken wings over. This encourages uniform crispiness and browning throughout.
  • Check for doneness: Take an internal temperature reading of the chicken wings using a meat thermometer. For safe ingestion, they should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  • Butter Sauce: Depending on your tolerance for spicy, change the amount of chili flakes in the sauce. If you’d like, you can also dilute the heat with a small amount of honey.
  • Coating the Wings: As soon as the hot, cooked wings exit the air fryer, coat them with the chili garlic butter sauce. As a result, the sauce sticks to the wings better.
